If you wish to direct a domain name that you have to another domain address or subdomain, the best way to do that would be to use a CNAME record. By creating such a record, the domain address being forwarded loses all of its records (A, MX, etc) and instead, it takes the A record of the domain name it's forwarded to. That way, if you use a web design service by some provider that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain name and not only will it be pointed to the site that you've created, but it'll also appear in the web browser address bar at all times. Alternative possible uses of a CNAME record are to point all of the traffic from various subdomains to their main domain, or to use the webmail service of your hosting provider by using webmail.your-doman.com, for example. The latter will work only by setting up a CNAME record for a subdomain because this type of a record set up for the main domain name makes it impossible to use e-mail addresses.

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which we offer with each and every cloud website hosting plan, will enable you to create CNAME records for every single domain address or subdomain hosted inside the account with only a few clicks. If you're not certain how to go about it, you can check out the video tutorial that's available inside the Control Panel, read the detailed Help article on the subject, or simply contact us and we can help you 24/7, although it is not likely you'll experience any difficulties as all it takes to create a new CNAME record is to select a domain/subdomain, type in the hostname that you're pointing to, and save the modification. The new record is going to be fully active within the hour. Using CNAME records permits you to have better control over your domain names and site content and our system is simple and intuitive enough to allow people with no previous experience to create this kind of records easily.
