FTP Accounts
Learn more about what FTP is, what it does and what is the main benefit of having multiple FTP Accounts.
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol – a rather popular method for sending website files between a home computer and a web server. Using an FTP client program like FileZilla or CuteFTP, you can establish a connection to the server and check its content in one pane, while the files on your PC will be shown in another pane within the main program window. All you’ll have to do to send files or entire directories in either direction is to mark them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. FTP is preferred by many users because you can set up different FTP accounts and each one can be limited to access just one folder on the server, so a designer, for instance, can do their task without being able to access any other folder in the hosting account. Also, the availability of different FTP accounts will also enable you to create multiple websites with web design tools such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage and to upload them to their specific directories on the server.
FTP Accounts in Cloud Website Hosting
You can set up as many FTP accounts as you wish with each of the cloud website hosting plans offered by us, as we have chosen not to limit this functionality. In this way, you can maintain multiple sites simultaneously or grant other persons access to different folders. Once a given task has been accomplished and you do not want that individual to be able to access your files any longer, you can change the password for the FTP account in question or you can simply delete that account with a few clicks and stop worrying about anyone using it once again. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is offered with all website hosting accounts, will allow you to see the complete list of the existing FTP accounts listed alphabetically. It takes only one click to administer various options for any of them – to edit the password or the access path, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.
