AAAA is a domain address record, that is in essence the IPv6 address of the server in which the domain name is hosted. The IPv6 system was introduced to replace the current IPv4 system where each and every IP address is comprised of four groups of decimal numbers which range from 1 to 255 e.g. 5.168.208.143. In comparison, an IPv6 address has eight sets of four hexadecimal digits - which range from 0 to 9 and from A to F. The main reason for this transformation is the significantly smaller number of unique IPs which the existing system supports and the fast increase of units which are connected to the Internet. A good example of an IPv6 address is 2101:1f34:32e2:2415:1365:4f2b:2553:1345. If you'd like to point a domain name to a server that uses this sort of an address, you will need to create an AAAA record for it, not the widely used A record, that is an IPv4 address. The two records deliver the same exact function, yet different notations are used, so as to differentiate the two forms of addresses.

AAAA Records in Cloud Website Hosting

If you want to create a new AAAA record for any domain or subdomain hosted within your cloud website hosting account, it won't take you more than a few basic steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel is rather intuitive to use and it'll permit you to set up or modify every record with ease. After you log in and go to the DNS Records section, where you'll discover all existing records for your domain addresses and subdomains, you'll just have to click the "New" button, pick out AAAA from a small drop-down menu inside the pop-up which will appear, type or paste the necessary IPv6 address and save the modification - it is as simple as that. The new record will be 100% live within a maximum of one hour and the hostname that you have created it for is going to start opening whatever content you have with the other company. If needed, you will also be able to change the TTL (Time To Live) value, which signifies the time in seconds that the new record will be active after you eventually modify it to something different or you simply delete it.
